Development trend and physical properties of flame retardant synergists

In order to reduce the addition amount, optimize the physical properties and improve the flame retardant effect, the researchers have developed new flame retardants by using the emerging nanotechnology, capsule coating technology, surface treatment technology and compounding mechanism. Including MMT, synergist FR-18, etc., with the main role of halogen-free flame retardant, in the entire flame retardant compatibility system, to coordinate physical properties, improve the synergistic effect of flame retardant effect. Generally, the synergist added amount is much less than the main flame retardant, reducing the amount of the main flame retardant.

Flame retardant synergists have been widely used for a long time due to their advantages of non-toxicity, low cost, good lubricity, long-term thermal stability of calcium soap and good initial coloration of zinc soap. It has long been used in PVC soft products with low thermal stability requirements or as an auxiliary heat stabilizing component containing lead, cadmium and antimony stabilizers.
