2-octanediol is an excellent cold-resistant plasticizer when it is handled. It is directly copolymerized with polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate, polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate, butyric acid acetate. Cellulose, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, etc. have good compatibility. It has low viscosity, high boiling point, high plasticizing efficiency, small water extraction, low volatility and migration, and excellent heat resistance, light resistance, electrical insulation and viscosity stability to plastisol, and cold resistance. Better than dioctyl adipate (DOA).
3-octanediol is very suitable for use in artificial leather, film, sheet, wire and cable sheathing, plastisol, etc., which can give the product good low temperature performance. This product can also be used alone or in combination with other plasticizers as a plasticizer for synthetic rubbers such as nitrile rubber, styrene butadiene rubber and neoprene.
